Pasay joins nationwide earthquake drill
The local government of Pasay City, under the leadership of Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, actively participated in the Nationwide Earthquake Drill held on March 9, 2023. The drill aimed to raise awareness and preparedness for a possible earthquake, which can strike at any time and cause significant damage and loss of life.
The city's government employees joined the simultaneous Drop-Cover-Hold exercise, which is a standard procedure to follow during an earthquake. The drill was conducted as a reminder for every Pasayeño to be mindful of the necessary steps to take in case of an earthquake.
The earthquake drill was held in the wake of a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria, causing over 50,000 fatalities and massive destruction to homes and structures. The Pasay City government believes that being proactive in disaster preparedness can save lives and minimize the impact of natural calamities.
Through this drill, the Pasay City government emphasizes the importance of taking precautions and being prepared for an earthquake. It is a reminder that being ready and informed can make a difference when a disaster strikes. The government hopes that every Pasayeño would remain vigilant and committed to being prepared for any eventuality.
