The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has launched its "Bayanihan sa Barangay" project in Pasay City, aimed at conducting a clean-up drive and bringing the agency's services closer to the public.

The project, which was conducted in Barangays 127, 128, 129, 130, 131, and 132 in Pasay, included services such as drainage declogging, clean-up of waterways, trimming and pruning of trees, sidewalk clearing operations, painting of pedestrian lanes, misting, one-stop shop query service for settling of violations, and repair of perimeter fences along Estero de Tripa de Gallina.

The MMDA personnel from different offices such as Flood Control and Sewerage Management Office, Health, Public Safety and Environmental Protection Office, Sidewalk Clearing Operations Group, and Traffic Engineering Center conducted the services during the launch. Atty. Don Artes, the MMDA Acting Chairman, said during the launch that the Bayanihan sa Barangay project is a revitalized project of the agency that is focused on cleaning waterways and drainage systems.

"This project is a form of participatory governance where we pool our resources to address problems in a specific area with a goal to bring forth cleaner and orderly communities and healthier Metro Manila residents," he said. The Chairman also announced that the MMDA is working with the World Bank to develop an integrated drainage master plan for the entire Metro Manila.

Pasay City Mayor Imelda "Emi" Calixto-Rubiano expressed her gratitude to the MMDA for launching the "Bayanihan sa Barangay" project. "With our barangays working together with the MMDA, it will definitely lead us to better and greater achievements as a community and as a city," she said.

The launch also included orientation sessions about anti-smoking, anti-littering, solid waste management, disaster preparedness, and the trash to cash program, in addition to the frontline services conducted by the MMDA personnel.
