Demonstrating a commitment to environmental consciousness and creativity, Pasay City recently hosted the Recycled Costume Making Contest on November 8, 2023. The event, spearheaded by the Pasay City Social Welfare and Development Department, showcased the ingenuity of participants in crafting costumes from recycled materials.

With the theme "From Waste to Wonders - towards a Sustainable ECO CITY," the contest aimed not only to highlight creativity but also to address environmental concerns. Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano emphasized the broader significance of the event, stating, “Others might think that this is just a showcase of creativity, but it is definitely more than that. Sa lahat ng mga costume na nailikha ng bawat contestant, we are able to reduce waste, carbon footprint, and all kinds of pollution. Sa bawat produkto ng recycled goods, we are able to help heal mother earth, one costume at a time.”

Participants from various levels of education competed in the contest, each presenting unique and innovative recycled costumes. The winners were celebrated not only for their artistic flair but also for their contribution to sustainable practices.
