Pasay Joins Inaugural Philippine Urban Forum to Shape Sustainable Cities
Pasay City made its mark in the inaugural Philippine Urban Forum, held at the Philippine International Convention Center on October 5-6, 2023, under the theme "Transforming our Cities and Building Resilient Communities."
This forum provided cities with a platform to share insights on sustainable human settlements and urban development, spearheaded by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development.
"Empowering. Motivating. Inspiring. These words not only remind us of our goals. They also offer a glimpse of what we want every Pasayenyo to feel and experience. In positive transformations, both physical and figurative, we envision a brighter future. We haven't just rehabilitated our once gloomy estuaries into picturesque ecoparks; we've also turned calamities into turning points, leading us toward what's best, what's necessary, and what needs to be done," expressed Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, the visionary leader of Pasay City.
During the forum, the city showcased several urban development projects, including a staging area, linear park, urban gardening initiatives, and a public amusement park, all of which are integral components of Mayor Emi's H.E.L.P. Priority agenda and her Eco City vision.
This gathering bears similarities to the upcoming World Urban Forum (WUF), and its outcomes will shape the country's position at the 12th session of the WUF slated for Cairo, Egypt, in 2024.
Pasay City's active participation underscores its commitment to fostering sustainable urban development, sharing its experiences, and contributing to the global dialogue on creating resilient and vibrant communities in an urbanized world.
