Pasay mayor leads celebration of Arbor Day
Pasay City demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability as Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano led the Philippine Arbor Day celebration on July 18, 2023. The event, with the theme "Isang Tao, Isang Buto, Buong Bansa, Buong Mundo," took place at the Malasakit Garden in Barangay 40.
In her message, Mayor Emi emphasized the city's grand vision of becoming a smart and sustainable EcoCity. She highlighted the significance of planting and caring for the environment as a permanent priority in achieving this vision. According to her, an EcoCity is not complete without the active involvement of tree planting, environmental care, and promoting an environmentally conscious lifestyle.
Joined by Mrs. Teresita Calixto-Robles, Director of I Care for Mother Earth, Barangay Chairman Diosdidith Morales, and representatives from the Bureau of Plant Industry of the Department of Agriculture, Mayor Emi and the participants engaged in a collective tree-planting activity. Their efforts symbolized Pasay City's dedication to preserving and nurturing the environment.
The Philippine Arbor Day celebration served as a reminder of the importance of trees in promoting a greener and healthier environment. Trees play a crucial role in mitigating climate change, improving air quality, and providing habitats for various species. By actively participating in tree-planting activities, Pasay City took a significant step towards achieving its goals of sustainability and creating a more eco-friendly city.
The event also showcased the city's commitment to collaboration and partnership in promoting environmental initiatives. The presence of representatives from different organizations and government agencies demonstrated the collective effort to protect and preserve the environment.
