Martin gets first career win as coach of Pasay Voyagers

Debuting Pasay Voyagers coach Keith Martin on Monday got his first career win in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League courtesy of a 70-68 win versus the Navotas Uni-Pak Sardines.

Ron Lastimosa led the way for the Voyagers with 14 points, including a crucial three-point shot with 1:!4 left in the match.

With the score at 69-67 in favor of Pasay, Navotas got several opportunities to take the lead. Unfortunately, Navotas’ Ryan Buenafe missed a three-point shot and Pasay’s Jan Jamon capitalized by sinking one of his two free throws, sealing a three-point lead for his team.

The game ended with Navotas missing one more three-point shot and three of four shots from the charity line.

“I am thankful because Pasay has given me this opportunity. It’s a challenge for me and I’m really excited with how I will apply my system. I’m very happy because the team is very supportive,” Martin said.

Two other Pasay players closed the game with 14 points each – Dhon Reverente and Jamon.
